Excel Pivot Table Simple Example - SUM and AVERAGE

Excel pivoting is one of the most powerful ways to manipulate any Excel data into a summarized way. This is a very helpful tool for anyone to analyze statistics, analyze the trend based on Excel data.

Here I will explain a very basic function of Excel pivoting.

Step 1: Download the STUD_INFO.xlxs file. Which have four columns, Name, Grade, Subjects, Marks  

Step 2: Open the Excel and Go to Insert -> Click PivotTable button

Step 3: Select the data range you want in the Pivot table (here I used the full table).

Step 4: It will pop us a menu asking for recommended Pivot tables. Select Blank Pivot table, since we do this for learning.

Step 5: Your output should be like below.

Step 6: We are ready.

Ex 1: We need to get the SUM of the marks for every Student.
